Project Hope, Boston, MA
Seth A. Ravitz Associates was pleased to have served as the Owner’s Representative for Project Hope, a multi service non-profit agency, during the construction of its new community center at 550 Dudley Street, Roxbury, MA. The four story, 20,000 s.f. building opening in 2006 and was awarded LEED Silver Status in 2007. The community building serves as the headquarters for Project Hope’s administrative offices and accommodates the adult education and workforce development programs.

Seth A. Ravitz Associates was engaged by the Elder Service Plan and Harbor Health Services, Inc. to serve as their Development Manager, Owner’s Representative, and Construction Project Manager for the adaptive reuse and expansion of a former nursing home into an adult day care center. In these capacities, the members of SAR+ worked with the Owner to select the design and construction team, guide design development, oversee the permitting process, manage the community and permitting process, and lead the project team during construction. The project is scheduled to open in December of 2009.

Hanover Theatre
Seth A. Ravitz Associates was engaged by Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation to provide due diligence and monthly inspection services in connection with financing of the rehabilitation of the historic Hanover Theater in Worcester Massachusetts. The Hanover Theatre, a three story masonry and steel structure, was originally constructed in 1904 and opened as the Franklin Square Theater. In 1926, the building was expanded to its present size and renovated utilizing a design by Thomas W. Lamb, a noted theatre designer. Since then the theatre has been owned and operated by several movie chains including Fox Theatres, Lowe’s, Central Theatre Corporation, and most recently Showcase Cinemas.
The property was acquired by in 2002 by the Worcester Center for Performing Arts. (“WCPA”). WCPA began the renovation and restoration project in early 2007 which included restoration of the theatre’s historic front entry façade and main lobby, expansion of the building to 74,704 SF, and conversion from a four screen movie theatre to a single auditorium live performance center, with complete new main floor and balcony seating, and all new lighting, sound and stage facilities. WCPA also applied for and received a listing on the National Register of Historic Places for its association with the luxurious and popular vaudeville/cinema theatres of the 1920’s.
